WHERE CAN I CHECK THE STATUS OF MY FEDERAL TAX REFUND?

To check the status of your refund please visit the IRS here. You will require your social security number, filing status, and exact refund amount.


IT’S BEEN LONGER THAN 21 DAYS SINCE THE IRS RECEIVED MY RETURN AND I HAVEN’T GOTTEN MY REFUND. WHY?

The IRS will contact you by mail when they need additional information to process your return. Tax returns may take longer to process than others for many reasons, including the following:

  • Includes errors

  • Is incomplete

  • Is affected by identity theft or fraud

  • Includes a claim filed for an Earned Income Tax Credit or an Additional Child Tax Credit

  • Includes a Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, which could take up to 14 weeks to process

  • Needs further review in general


CAN I RECEIVE A TAX REFUND IF I AM CURRENTLY MAKING PAYMENTS UNDER AN INSTALLMENT AGREEMENT OR PAYMENT PLAN FOR ANOTHER FEDERAL TAX PERIOD?

No, one of the conditions of your installment agreement is that the IRS will automatically apply any refund (or overpayment) due to you against taxes you owe. Because your refund isn't applied toward your regular monthly payment, continue making your installment agreement payments as scheduled.

If your refund exceeds your total balance due on all outstanding tax liabilities including accruals, you'll receive a refund of the excess unless you owe certain other past-due amounts, such as state income tax, child support, a student loan, or other federal nontax obligations which are offset against any refund. For more information on these non-IRS refund offsets, you can call the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) AT 800-304-3107 (toll-free).

To check the status of your amended return please visit the IRS here. You will require your social security number, date of birth, and zip code.


WHERE CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION ON MY STIMULUS PAYMENT?

You can check the status of your stimulus payment, apply for a recovery credit if you did not receive your stimulus payment and update your bank information with the IRS by visiting the IRS here.


HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Appointments can be made online here or by calling/texting 773-374-7600.

Due to COVID-19 walk in appointments are discouraged to ensure the office can maintain social distance recommendations throughout the day. Please feel free to upload documents through our website, via text, or through email. Tax returns are completed in the order they are received and within an average of 3 business days. Once your return is complete, we will contact you to review your return, follow up and answer any questions.

When making an appointment the following information is required:

  1. Signed COVID-19 Waiver (For in person appointments)

  2. Submitted tax documents (48 hours prior to appointment)


WHAT ARE YOUR ACCEPTED METHODS OF PAYMENT?

We accept check, cash, debit, and credit cards as methods of payment.


WHERE CAN I SUBMIT MY DOCUMENTS?

Tax documents can be uploaded directly to our website, click the Upload link in the right hand corner. Documents may also be emailed to our office, sent by text to 773-374-7600, or dropped off during office hours.


I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE IRS THAT NEEDS REVIEW, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Submit a copy of the IRS notice to us so that we can review, and we will follow up within 5-7 business days. A copy of the notice can be emailed to tax@kerryvanisom.com, text to 773-374-7600, or dropped off during office hours.
